Referrals

Sometimes your primary care provider may want you to see a specialist who is an expert in a particular field of medicine, such as cardiology or surgery. You provider will generate a referral in our system which includes all of the relevant information that our referral coordinator will need to start the referral process.

The continuity of your care is very important to us! Once our referral coordinator receives a referral request from your provider, they will start the process which for some insurance companies requires obtaining insurance authorization.

Because the process can be complex in certain circumstances, we will make every effort to handle this in a timely manner.

Please note the following estimated timeframes:

• Routine Referral – 2 business days
• Urgent Referral – 1 business day
• Emergent Referral – Same day if received during regular business hours
• Insurance Authorization – 4-7 business days
• Specialist Scheduling – 10-14 business days
